1. A Poor Woodcutter in the Village
Once upon a time in a small village, there lived a hardworking but poor woodcutter. He earned his livelihood by chopping trees in the nearby forest and selling the wood in the local market. Life was tough, but he never complained.

ایک چھوٹے سے گاؤں میں ایک محنتی لیکن غریب لکڑہارا رہتا تھا۔ وہ جنگل میں درخت کاٹ کر بازار میں لکڑی بیچ کر اپنا گزارا کرتا تھا۔ زندگی مشکل تھی، مگر وہ کبھی شکایت نہیں کرتا تھا۔
2. The Axe Falls into the River
One sunny morning, the woodcutter was cutting a tree near a riverbank. While working, his iron axe suddenly slipped from his hands and fell into the deep river. He panicked — that axe was his only source of income.
کلہاڑی دریا میں گر گئی
ایک دن وہ دریا کے کنارے درخت کاٹ رہا تھا۔ اچانک اُس کے ہاتھ سے کلہاڑی پھسل کر دریا میں جا گری۔ وہ بہت پریشان ہو گیا کیونکہ وہی کلہاڑی اس کی کمائی کا واحد ذریعہ تھی۔
3. Helpless and Crying
Unable to retrieve the axe and too poor to buy a new one, he sat down and began to cry. His honest hard work seemed wasted. His heart was heavy, and he felt utterly helpless.
بے بس اور روتا ہوا لکڑہارا
وہ کلہاڑی واپس نکالنے کے قابل نہ تھا اور نئی خریدنے کے لیے اس کے پاس پیسے بھی نہ تھے۔ وہ زمین پر بیٹھ گیا اور رونے لگا۔ اُس کی محنت رائیگاں جاتی دکھائی دی اور وہ خود کو مکمل طور پر بے بس محسوس کر رہا تھا۔
4. The Angel Appears
Suddenly, the Angel of Mercy appeared before him. The angel asked, “Why are you crying, dear man?” The woodcutter shared everything honestly. The angel was touched by his honesty.
فرشتہ ظاہر ہوتا ہے
اچانک ایک فرشتہ اُس کے سامنے ظاہر ہوا۔ فرشتے نے پوچھا، “اے شخص، تم کیوں رو رہے ہو؟” لکڑہارے نے ایمانداری سے سارا واقعہ بیان کر دیا۔ فرشتہ اُس کی سچائی سے متاثر ہوا۔
5. The Test of Honesty Begins
The angel dived into the river and brought out a golden axe. “Is this yours?” he asked. The woodcutter replied, “No, that’s not mine.” Then he brought a silver axe, and the woodcutter again said no. A bronze axe came next, and still, the answer was no.
ایمانداری کا امتحان شروع ہوتا ہے
فرشتہ دریا میں غوطہ لگا کر ایک سونے کی کلہاڑی نکال لایا اور پوچھا، “کیا یہ تمہاری ہے؟” لکڑہارے نے جواب دیا، “نہیں، یہ میری نہیں۔” پھر فرشتہ چاندی کی کلہاڑی لایا، مگر جواب پھر بھی “نہیں” تھا۔ تیسری بار پیتل کی کلہاڑی لائی گئی، جواب ایک بار پھر “نہیں” تھا۔
6. Finally, the Real Axe
At last, the angel brought out an old iron axe — the exact one that the woodcutter had lost. “Yes! That’s mine!” the woodcutter said joyfully. He was so happy to see his own axe again.
بالآخر، اصلی کلہاڑی ملی
آخرکار فرشتہ ایک پرانی لوہے کی کلہاڑی لے آیا — وہی جو لکڑہارے کی تھی۔ لکڑہارے نے خوشی سے کہا، “جی ہاں! یہ میری کلہاڑی ہے!” وہ اپنی کلہاڑی واپس پا کر بہت خوش ہوا۔
7. Reward for Truthfulness
The angel smiled and said, “Your honesty deserves a reward.” He gave the woodcutter not only his iron axe but also the golden, silver, and bronze axes. The woodcutter couldn’t believe his luck!
سچائی کا انعام
فرشتے نے مسکرا کر کہا، “تمہاری ایمانداری قابلِ انعام ہے۔” اُس نے نہ صرف لکڑہارے کو اُس کی لوہے والی کلہاڑی واپس دی بلکہ سونے، چاندی، اور پیتل کی کلہاڑیاں بھی انعام میں دے دیں۔ لکڑہارا اپنی خوش قسمتی پر یقین نہ کر سکا!
8. A Lesson to All
The story teaches us that honesty always pays off, even in difficult times. It builds trust, earns respect, and brings unexpected rewards in life. A truthful heart is more valuable than gold.
ہم سب کے لیے سبق
یہ کہانی ہمیں سکھاتی ہے کہ سچائی ہمیشہ فائدہ دیتی ہے، چاہے حالات کتنے ہی مشکل ہوں۔ سچ بولنا اعتماد پیدا کرتا ہے، عزت بڑھاتا ہے، اور زندگی میں حیران کن انعامات لاتا ہے۔ سچ بولنے والا دل سونے سے زیادہ قیمتی ہوتا ہے۔
