US President Donald Trump said he is stopping trade talks with Canada right away. He made this announcement on social media.
The reason for this decision is a new tax in Canada. This tax is made for big technology companies. Trump thinks this tax is very unfair.
Before this, both countries were trying to make a trade deal by mid-July. But they had already placed extra taxes (called tariffs) on each other’s goods earlier this year.
Trump also warned that he may put more taxes on goods coming from Canada next week. He even said that he could use “economic force” against Canada.
