PTI Leaders Head to Lahore to Finalize Protest Strategy
Top PTI leaders have traveled from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other regions to Lahore to plan the party’s political strategy and show solidarity with 26 suspended MPAs.
The move follows a protest by PTI lawmakers during Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz’s budget speech on June 27, which led to their suspension for 15 sessions.
KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said this is the party’s first major meeting ahead of a planned protest movement set to peak by August 5. Senior leader Gohar Khan confirmed they had officially informed the Punjab government about the meeting, clarifying it’s not a rally but a strategic session.
The gathering comes after the Supreme Court upheld a decision denying PTI reserved seats for women and minorities, as their candidates contested independently after losing the party symbol.
Despite winning the most general seats, PTI was excluded from proportional seats, prompting the party to announce a nationwide protest after Muharram, demanding electoral transparency and Imran Khan’s release.

یہ اقدام اُس وقت سامنے آیا جب پنجاب اسمبلی میں وزیراعلیٰ مریم نواز کی تقریر کے دوران احتجاج پر 26 پی ٹی آئی ایم پی ایز کو پندرہ اجلاسوں کے لیے معطل کر دیا گیا۔
وزیراعلیٰ کے پی علی امین گنڈاپور نے کہا کہ 5 اگست تک احتجاجی تحریک کو مؤثر بنانا ہے اور لاہور کی یہ پہلی اہم میٹنگ ہے۔ گوہر خان کے مطابق، حکومت کو میٹنگ سے پہلے باضابطہ اطلاع دی جا چکی ہے۔
یہ میٹنگ ایسے وقت ہو رہی ہے جب سپریم کورٹ نے مخصوص نشستوں کے حوالے سے پی ٹی آئی کی درخواست مسترد کر دی ہے، کیونکہ پارٹی نے انتخابی نشان کھونے کے باعث آزاد امیدواروں کے طور پر الیکشن لڑا تھا۔
اب پی ٹی آئی محرم کے بعد ملک گیر احتجاجی تحریک کا اعلان کر چکی ہے، جس کا مقصد انتخابی شفافیت اور عمران خان کی رہائی کا مطالبہ ہے۔
