3 Killed, Several Injured in Gunmen Attack on Passenger Bus in Balochistan’s Kalat

Kalat, Balochistan – July 16, 2025:
At least three passengers were killed and seven others injured when armed assailants opened fire on a passenger bus in Nemargh area of Kalat, Balochistan. The bus was en route from Karachi to Quetta.

According to official spokesperson Shahid Rind, the attackers ambushed the vehicle from both sides of the road, stopping it before firing indiscriminately. Emergency services rushed the injured to District Headquarters Hospital Kalat, while Edhi Foundation later confirmed 10 people were injured, taken to Civil Hospital Quetta.

Security forces and rescue teams swiftly arrived at the scene. The area was cordoned off, and a search operation is ongoing to apprehend the assailants.

Rind said Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has taken notice and demanded an immediate report from law enforcement. He confirmed the attack was carried out by terrorists in hiding, frustrated by recent successful operations and tightened border control by the Frontier Corps (FC).

State media quoted security sources saying the attackers targeted soft civilian vehicles to distract forces from active operation zones and border patrols.

One passenger told PTV that the gunmen fired without warning, causing chaos and casualties.
