Aftab Iqbal (born 19 September 1958 in Okara, Punjab) is a celebrated Pakistani television host, journalist, and businessman. He earned a master’s from Government College University, Lahore (1985), followed by a diploma in Mass Communications from San Jose State University, California (1986)
Son of esteemed Urdu poet Zafar Iqbal, Aftab began his media career as a reporter in 1986, then served as Media Advisor to the Chief Minister of Punjab (1994–1995), and penned the popular newspaper column “Aaftabian” (1995–2010).
He became a household name as host of political‑comedy shows: Hasb‑e‑Haal (Dunya News, 2009–10), Khabarnaak (Geo News, 2010–15), Khabardaar (Express News, 2015–18 & 2021–22), Himaqatain (92 News, 2018–19), Khabarzar (Aap News, 2019–20), Khabaryar (Neo News, 2020–21), and Khabarhar (Samaa TV, 2022–present) . In October 2018, he founded and led Aap Media Group, launching both Aap News and his own YouTube channel (launched January 2017, 2 million+ subscribers).
His talk shows blend sharp satire with social commentary, often featuring comic sketches, interviews, and educational segments. In 2024, he revived “Khabarhar Season 2” via a digital format, collaborating between studios in Lahore and from the UAE.
